Nourishing your life

Over the weekend, I had the joy of participating in the NMB Live Festival in North Myrtle Beach, and it was fantastic!

I met so many wonderful people, reconnected with students who stopped by to say hello, and had great conversations about wellness, Ayurveda, and simple ways we can feel better in our bodies.

A huge shout-out to Filomena for helping me throughout the event. And thank you to every person who stopped by to taste, smell, ask questions, share a story, or simply learn a little more about Kaliflower Ltd.

I originally created Kaliflower products to enhance my own life. My family enjoyed them; I kept creating, and eventually sharing them with others just felt like the natural next step.

One of the biggest questions I heard all weekend was:

“What can I do to improve my digestion?”

The good news? You do not have to overhaul your entire life.

Ayurveda often comes back to simple, consistent habits.

Pick one thing.

Practice it.

Master it.

Then add another.

Easy-peasy.

No perfection required.

Nourishment Rituals

Gratitude splashed on everything makes sense!

Before eating, take a moment to acknowledge your food and offer a little gratitude for everyone and everything that helped bring it to your plate.

Farmers, growers, animals, drivers, cooks, Mother Nature, and maybe even the person who remembered to go grocery shopping.

A simple pause can change the whole energy of a meal.

Get out the fine china!

Okay, maybe not literally every night.

But give yourself permission to make eating feel special.

Put a flower in a vase. Light a candle. Sit somewhere pleasant. Use the plate you actually like.

You are about to nourish your body. That is worth celebrating.

Eat with intention.

Turn off the TV.

Put the phone down.

Step away from the scrolling.

When we are distracted, it becomes much easier to eat too quickly or miss the body's signals that we have had enough.

Give your meal your attention.

Your digestion may thank you for it.

Chew slowly and mindfully.

One of the simplest ways to slow down is to put your utensil down between bites.

Yes, really.

Take a bite.

Chew.

Taste it.

Breathe.

Then pick up the fork again.

Your stomach does not have teeth, so give it a little help before the food gets there.

Cook and eat happily.

Check in with your mood while you are preparing and eating your food.

Ayurveda reminds us that how we eat matters too.

Turn on some music.

Shake your booty.

Sing.

Chant.

Laugh.

Cook with people you love.

Good vibes belong in the kitchen.

Great Metabolism Secrets

Here are a few simple Ayurvedic-inspired practices you can experiment with:

  • Start your morning with a glass of warm water to gently wake up digestion.

  • Place your hands together like a bowl. That gives you a simple visual for a comfortable meal portion.

  • Make lunch your largest or main meal of the day, when digestion is traditionally considered strongest in Ayurveda.

  • Pay attention to the body's signals that you are satisfied. In Ayurvedic tradition, even that first little burp can be a sign to slow down or stop. Yep, you read that correctly.

  • Keep dinner lighter and, when possible, eat around 6 p.m. or give yourself plenty of time to digest before bed.

  • Try eating fruit by itself rather than combining it with a heavy meal.

  • Sip warm water or tea with meals instead of large amounts of cold liquid.

  • Choose more whole, recognizable foods and fewer heavily processed foods.

  • Try a thin slice of fresh ginger before a meal and see how your body responds.

  • And one of my favorites: eat in LOVE with yourself.

Because digestion is not only about what is on the plate.

It is also about pace.

Mood.

Environment.

Awareness.

And the relationship you have with yourself.

Start With One

Please do not read this list and think:

“Well, I guess I need to do all of that tomorrow.”

Nope.

Choose one.

Maybe tomorrow morning you drink warm water.

Maybe tonight you put your phone away during dinner.

Maybe you chew a little slower.

Maybe you light the candle.

Do that until it feels natural.

Then add something else.

Small rituals become habits.

Habits become a lifestyle.

And a lifestyle can change how you feel.

One little choice at a time.

With love, nourishment, and maybe a little booty shaking,
